About the event

In the summer of 2025, Brood XIV cicadas emerge after 17 years underground. In their brief two-week lives, they fill the forest with a continuous, resonant chorus. What remains are their translucent exuviae—fragile yet defined, the sole witness to transformation. Their next emergence will be in 2042.

The artist approaches drawing as a meditative and healing practice, using brushwork to trace the cyclical patterns that recur in nature. In this workshop, participants will create meditative drawings accompanied by live improvised music, working on translucent tracing paper as canvas for their zine:

Much like cicada exuviae, it serves both as a record of inner transformation and as a medium for communication that transcends words.
